I Am From

   By  Vickie Driskell

I am from

            A family of four kids…

                  Sandwiched in the middle.

 I am from

            A family with Baptist Roots…

Sunday School, Church, and Amazing Grace.

 I am from

            Old wooden windmills…

Spinning in a West Texas breeze.

 I am from

Spring Break vacations…

Running on a Padre Island beach and catching big fish.

 I am from

Rows and rows of cotton fields…

John Deere tractors and summers of hoeing and pulling weeds.

 I am from…

Sandstorms and the smell of fresh falling rain.

No mountains to hide a picture-perfect rainbow.

 I am from

           Milk cows and metal buckets…

A small girl churning butter on Saturday mornings.

  I am from

            The old red barn…

Baby calves, fluffy yellow chicks, and curly-tailed pigs to feed.

I am from

            The patchwork garden…

Canning corn, green beans, and black-eyed peas.

I am from

The home of the "Fighting Wildcats"...

Two rides a day on the old yellow dog.

I am from

            The Country…

A small town known as Littlefield, Texas

 I am from

            A loving home…

Caring parents, a brother, and two sisters.
