Instructor:  Dr. Francis Vitali

College:  University of New Mexico

              Farmington Branch, New Mexico

My first thoughts as Francis begin to tell us about our class requirements:

          “What is a CHAUTAUQUA?”

“You want me to ‘ACT’ this out??

                            “IN FRONT OF STUDENTS!!!

WOW!!  I loved this class.  If you can think it or dream it, with “Francis” it WILL become a reality and you will have “FUN” doing it.  Francis brings such a positive energy to the classroom that before you know it you are rolling around on the floor acting out the character in your Chautauqua.  (I, acting like my three year old granddaughter).

What a rewarding experience I had working with a small group of children at Apache Elementary.  As I encouraged them to write their own Chautauqua story, I was continually amazed at their creativeness.  Within every small child there are many talents waiting to be inspired and we are the lucky “educationalist” with the key to open the door and set them onto this adventures path of learning.
